2. It is to be understood that your

engagement is for not more than three years

from the date of your arrival in the Colony;

and that, if it is established to the satis-

faction of the Governor that you are not qualified for efficient service there, the Governor, subject to the confirmation of

the Secretary of State, will have full power

to cancel your appointment at any time

within the said three years without giving

you any further compensation than a passage back to England, which will be granted only if the Governor is satisfied that you have, by your good conduct, deserved it. If not previously terminated, the appointment will cease at the end of the said three years, unless it be expressly

continued.

in force for the time being. A copy of the

latest edition of the Regulations is enclosed.

The appointment is under the Colonial

Government, and your emoluments will be

paid solely from the funds of the Colony.

If you are prepared to accept the

appointment on these conditions, you should

present yourself to one of the Medical

Advisers of this Department, whose names

are given on the enclosed letter, for the pur- pose of being medically examined.

The

letter is to be left with him; and you will

be required to pay him a fee of one guinea.

He will send his report direct to this

Department.
